Kelly Slater (Surfer & Entrepreneur) | Riding the Wave to a Cleaner Ocean
About our Guest
Greg Stone welcomes 11-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater for a conversation about their shared passion for the ocean. Kelly has used his notoriety to bring awareness to many significant causes, from sustainable living and a healthier ocean to suicide prevention. “ The only positive thing about fame is to be able to do something good with it,” Kelly says, “And I feel I have an obligation to pass on positivity about our environment and the world in general.” This commitment to environmentalism and philanthropy has made Kally Slater a champion off the surfboard as much as on one.
Guest(s):
Ocean Ramsey (Environmentalist) & Juan Oliphant (Photographer) | Swimming With Sharks
About our Guest
Ocean Ramsey and Juan Oliphant sit down with Greg Stone and share stories of their lifelong passion with sharks. Both Ocean and Juan live in Hawaii and run a company called One Ocean Diving, which focuses on studying the behavior of sharks and the effects of human contact with the species. As a marine biologist, Ocean studies shark behavior and body language to ultimately avoid negative perceptions and interactions with this species. The lively discussion touches on the unique qualities of sharks, overfishing, the diminishing of prey, and the negative image that sharks have which ultimately limits the compassion that is needed to protect and preserve these amazing animals. Ocean is a self-proclaimed ambassador for sharks and is an outspoken advocate for the survival and success of sharks in our oceans.
Guest(s):
Ian Somerhalder (Activist & Actor) | How The Ocean Works
About our Guest
Ian Somerhalder interviews Greg Stone, exploring their shared passion for the ocean. The conversation ranges from childhood stories of Jacques-Yves Cousteau to the science of the world’s oceans and its currents that keep our planet alive. The two old friends dig deep about climate change and the solutions, both simple and complex, that can help reverse the damaging effect we have on our oceans. “The Sea Has Many Voices” is proud to start our third season with an engaging and informative segment that inspires us to all become responsible members of today’s ocean renaissance.
